John & Brenda Williams, Macaiah Tillman, Ph.D & Dr. LaVerne Adekunle (Handcock) from Come On In Inc. and Community Service Youth Council met over networking with City Councilmen John Musgraves 1999. After years of lost contact John and Dr. LaVerne met over social media. The two picked up as usual and reacquainted with their current projects. John is the founder of the Colorado Elite Steppers and Dr. LaVerne & Macaiah Tillman, Ph.D, owns a non-profit Marketing firm for authors, artist & entrepreneurs called laExpose’. This year they represent the USA Peace Conference& Global TruceWorks which are non-violence programs. Their latest project is the Extraordinary People Awards honoring global leaders who serve others through philanthropy and humanitarian efforts. Who would know 17 years ago these Blytheville residents would be still doing a great service to mankind together on such an international scale. Great talent come from Blytheville Arkansas.
Eld. John Williams is the youngest of 14 children, his mentor Mrs. Etter Mae Robinson, told him, that he was smart and could be anything in life that he wanted to be. That, was when Mr. Williams made a tremendous change in his life. With the improvement of his self-confidence and self-worth, Mr. Williams graduated with the Class of 1986. Upon graduation, he received two scholarships. Mr. Williams was the first of 14 children to finish high school and attend college. He joined the United States Army in Dec of 1988 and his wife recently retired from the military. Both received many awards over the many years in which they served. And still furthering his education after the military. List of Awards, educational certifications and degrees are many and very distinguished.
Dr. LaVerne Adekunle is an award-winning author and founder of Extraordinary People Awards. She graduated from Blytheville High in the class of 74 she holds her Ph.D of Philosphy in Christian Education; she is a former Adjunct Professor at TNT Biblical Institute. A alumni of Aenon Bible College, her heart of compassion led her into Missionary work; she then went on to major in Psychology at Cuyahoga Community College. Dr. Adekunle also graduated from Cotton Boll Vo-Tech with certification in Secretarial Business, she is a certified Fitness& Nutrition Specialists from US Career Institute, and she completed the P.O.G.I.A ministerial program in Ramstein Germany.
Dr.Macaiah holds a Bachelors of Arts in Communications, Masters of Arts in Business, a Masters of Science in Academic Advising and Counseling and PhD in Christian Education. He has served and been a spokesman in several leadership and volunteer opportunities former Board Member of Arkansas Student Leadership Forum, and active in serving and addressing outreach, discipleship, and mentorship. He was recognized as Mentor of the Year, while serving in the (VIPS) Volunteer in Public Schools programs in LittleRock, AR along with being a spokesman for Arkansas Scholars. He was recognized in the 2009 Presidential Forum at Texas A&M University for Service for the Community Service Youth Council, which received the Points of Life Award sponsored by the Points of Life Foundation. President Barack Obama and the 41st President George H.W. Bush were the special guest and spokesmen. Dr. Macaiah says his life has been a “man shaping experience” to empower others and through it all, we all have the favor to win but one must tap into it. Dr. Macaiah leads the way with a new project honoring employers called Employers Award.
This Blytheville trio plus one is making a difference in this society with a name truly to be recognized.
